comonwelth games 25-7-14

FIELD HOCKEY

The first result that I saw was a 4-0 win for Australia

Wales must be disappointed with the field hockey result as they were level at half time but lost 2-1 to India

SWIMMING

NI RACERS

Connor Mun of Northern went through to the second round of the swimming but there is still a round to go before the final

Danielle Hill finished in second place in the women’s 50metres freestyle

FINALS

In the women’s 400metres individual medley Hannah Miley got Scotland’s hopes off to a great start as she won gold followed by Englands Amy Willnott and Australian Keryn Mc Master in bronze

In the men’s sport freestyle s9 it was an all Australian table with Rowan Corethers winning gold silver going to Mathew Cowdry and bronze going to Brendan hall

In the Men’s 200 metre breaststroke was won by Scotland’s Ross Murdock silver going to Scotland’s Michael Jamison and Bronze to England’s Andrew Willis

In the mens 400m metre freestyle Ryan Cochrane of Canada won gold followed by David Mc Keown of Australia and the Bronze went to James Guy

TRIATHGALON

The triathlon was the first medals of the games 1.58.56 won the gold for England silver went to Canada and Sweetland  0.05 behind while Holland takes the Bronze .15 behind. This was a race where the 2 English girls helped each other out a little but at the finish Sweetland was able to get in between the two

Alistair Brownle won the gold in the men’s Triathlon while his brother Jonathan won silver.  Jonathan was considered the form brother before yesterday

BADMINTON

In the Badminton Alana Sterenson was the only member of the team to get a set as Northern Ireland went down 3-0 in matches and it does look like the English team are much better

CYCLING

Anna Meers from Australia won the 500 metre time trial closely followed by Steph Morton and the bronze went to Jess Varnish of Australia

JUDO

There have been some matches in the judo

Owen Livesly and Tom Reed from England are in the semi finals of the mens 81kg semi finals

Home favourite Sarah Clarke is in the final of the women’s 63 kg where she will face Dombeu of Cameroon

Sally Conway and Megan Fletcher are in the semi finals of the women’s 70kg division

NETBALL

New Zealand were scared in the first round of the netball as they won by 50 points to 47 and considering the fact that New Zealand are Commonwealth champions and Malawi are mioes this was a surprise
